Maidstone Borough Council - Polling Districts & Places Review 2026

Running from Wednesday 8th July to Wednesday 19th August 2026, the review will look at whether current polling places and stations are appropriate, in the right locations and are easy for people to access and use. 

Residents are encouraged to share their experiences of using local polling stations in as much detail as possible. The council is particularly interested in hearing about any barriers people may face when voting, with the aim to put provisions in place to ensure that everyone visits and uses polling stations.  The suitability of polling stations is assessed along with their accessibility, facilities for voters and, in particular, for those with a disability.

The survey seeks feedback on the proposals to change or move polling stations.  The Returning Officer's comments on Hunton Village Hall as a polling station are:

Hunton Village Hall has poor interior lighting, impacting on visibility within polling booths. There is no dedicated disabled parking and access by the car park is unsuitable for powered wheelchairs. There is a risk to staff working in a remote location as the hall is situated on the outskirts of the parish. There have been previous management issues relating to the secrecy of the ballot, with management accessing the hall on polling day.

It is proposed that voters vote at Coxheath Village Hall.
